6 CLEANING TOOLS that make my life EASIER

I can’t say cleaning is my favourite thing in the world to fo, but I can’t deny that there is something very therapeutic about the process (not to mention how incredibly satisfying it is to see a squeaky-clean apartment)! Ever since embarking on my “living-away-from-home journey,” I’ve added some tools to my cleaning toolkit that have made cleaning easier and more enjoyable— so today I’m sharing 6 of them! Let’s go!

1. Squeegee

If you have a glass shower door, a squeegee is a must have! After every shower, I take 10 seconds to squeegee the glass in my shower and it is really effective at preventing water stains! You can find fairly cheap ones that do the job well at most grocery stores in the cleaning aisle, but I recently upgraded my squeegee to *this one from Umbra that extends and has special hanger that attaches to my shower wall (super fancy stuff, I know).

2. Collapsible bucket

For years, I have lived without a bucket in my current apartment because I don’t have tons of closet space; all of my cleaning gear is stored beneath my sink so, as you can probably imagine, the area fills up quickly! But all that changed a couple months ago when I stumbled upon the collapsible bucket.

The collapsible bucket magically expands when you need a bucket to clean the bathroom, scrub windows, or wash clothes. Then, when you’re done using it, it folds down to nothing! It’s such a great thing to have on hand if you’re limited on space!

3. Dusters

The *Swiffer Duster is a classic cleaning tool that I love to have on hand for all my dusting needs. It’s really easy to dust around objects on bookshelves and ledges, and it protects my furniture from excessive use of cleaning chemicals! I dust my apartment about once a week, and this tool makes the process really quick.

I also love using microfibre clothes to clean glass and screens— an added bonus is you can throw them in the laundry and use them over and over again :)

4. All-Purpose Cleaner

An all-purpose cleaner is one of the best cleaning products to have because it’s so versatile. I use an all-purpose cleaner to wipe down my kitchen counters, tiles, and bathroom sink— it’s also what I use on furniture when it needs something more aggressive that a simple dusting!

I’ve been using Method’s all-purpose cleaners for years (they come in so many great scents)! I also am a fan of the Mrs. Meyer’s all-purpose cleaner….they have this *apple cider one that is awesome to use in the fall!

5. Lint Roller

Lint rollers aren’t just for your clothes, they’re also a great cleaning tool! I love using lint rollers on my fabric couch to pick up loose hairs (I swear I shed hair like a dog) and lint from the cushions and pillows. Sometimes a lint roller is also necessary to use on my carpets to pick up stubborn lint/hair! I use it once every month or so to freshen up my fabrics and it does wonders :)

6. Rubbermaid Mop

Again, as someone who’s limited on space, a traditional mop and bucket is a pain to store— but this two-in-one mop has made keeping my floors clean so much easier!I love that the pads at the bottom are reusable and machine washable (so no need to keep buying scrubbing pads), and it has a refillable bottle that you can fill with your favourite floor cleaner.

As a side note— I simply poor in a mixture of water and white vinegar to clean my floor tiles! It works great!

Wow, all that cleaning talk makes me want to go clean something! ….well, not really, but alas I hope this post gave you an idea or two on something you can add to your cleaning routine!
