Do you *really* know yourself? Try These Personality Tests
How do you make decisions? Do you need to spend time with yourself or others to feel energized? What motivates you? These are the kinds of questions that personality tests can help you answer. In today’s blog post, I want to share some of my favourite personality tests that I’ve done over the years! Should you take your results as law? Probably not — there’s no confirming whether a test can truly take into account every aspect of your personality. However, these tests can be a great starting point for self-discovery AND a lot of fun ☺️
Enneagram
Truit.com describes the enneagram personality test as, “a system of personality typing that describes patterns in how people interpret the world and manage their emotions. The Enneagram describes nine personality types and maps each of these types on a nine-pointed diagram which helps to illustrate how the types relate to one another.”
Each of the nine personality types have their own unique set of motivators and fears — knowing which type you are can be potentially helpful at helping you deal with conflict, influence how you shape relationships, strengthen your emotional intelligence, and more.
The nine personality types are as follows:
Type 1 – The Perfectionist
Type 2 – The Giver
Type 3 – The Achiever
Type 4 – The Individualist
Type 5 – The Investigator
Type 6 – The Skeptic
Type 7 – The Enthusiast
Type 8 – The Challenger
Type 9 – The Peacemaker

2. Myers Brigg
Verywellmind.com descries the Myers Brigg test as, “…a self-report designed to identify a person's personality type, strengths, and preferences.” Upon taking a quiz, a person is categorized as one of sixteen personality types that describe where on the scale a person falls within four different categories:
Extraversion/Introversion
Sensing/Intuition
Thinking/Feeling
Judging/Perceiving.
No personality type is meant to be perceived as better than another but knowing more about your personality can help deepen your sense of self! 16 Personalities has one of my favourite versions of this test: take it here!
3. Love Language
There are 5 different ways that we express and receive love— quality time, gifts, words of affirmation, acts of service, and physical touch. Taking a love language quiz will help you get a clear picture of which of the 5 languages resonates the most with your needs.
Learning my love language was an eye-opening experience in understanding how all of us have different intimacy needs— for couples, knowing each other’s love language can help facilitate smoother expressions of love to one another, but I think this information can also have a lot of impact on how we express self-love!
If your love language is words of affirmation, then maybe a candlelit bath won’t bring as much comfort to you as saying some affirmations. If your love language is quality time, then perhaps doing the act of service of meal prepping your meals for the week ahead won’t have as much impact on relieving tension as time spent reading or taking a relaxing walk.
Take this quiz to learn your love language. Already know what your love language is? Think about how you can use this knowledge to change the way you show yourself love — how can you be better meeting your needs?
4. Hogwarts House
I couldn’t do a post about personality tests without mentioning the most magical one of them all: your Hogwarts house! Within the fictional world of Harry Potter are four major houses— Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Although none of us can be properly sorted into a house with the a magical sorting hat, we can take a quiz like this one. Of all the tests I’ve mentioned today, these results truly need to be taken with a grain of salt, but it can be a fun, less clinical, way to learn more about your personality 🤪. Are you a wise Ravenclaw? A courageous Gryffindor? A patient Hufflepuff? Or a cunning Slytherin?
Have you done any of these personality tests in the past? What were some of your results? Let me know in the comments below! ☺️ Until next time, Xo —C.
