AUGUST PLANNER SPREADS
Month-At-Glance
Since I will be spending a decent chunk of my August in Portugal, I figured it’d be fitting to ensure that my bullet journal reflects that — so you’ll notice throughout this video me writing a decent amount of the headings in Portuguese. The calendar is a smaller grid style with space at the bottom for me to highlight any major dates.
Although this entire spread is probably the most simple of the spreads I create today, I really adored how it came out — I think the subtle playfulneess in the August title, the photo, and the sun doodle really give it that special touch.
Memory-A-Day
Each day during the month of August, I’m going to challenge myself to write down a highlight from the day so that it doesn’t get lost in my brain. Whether you’re going on a trip or not, this format for a spread is so fun and keeps you looking for those bright moments as you are navigating your day.
I still had some space left on the bottom right page so, instead of pasting in more photos, I decided to keep the “self-reflection” vibes going on this page by creating a rectangle for me to reflect on lessons learned in August. Below the rectangle for lessons learned, I added a quote that felt very on theme credited to Emily Dickinson that says, “forever is composed of nows.”
Flight/Trip Details
This next spread is probably the most travel focused spread in this plan with me and although mine is catered towards my flight details, this same concept would be cute for recording details on Airbnb rentals or any day trips you might be doing this month. On the top left page I am making a designated spot to record the basic details of my flights between Toronto and Portugal— there’s a spot for me to record the time of each flight and the flight number (I find this will be more of a “just for memories” kind of thing because a lot more details will be on my phone).
On the right page I created a “things to do “ list for Portugal, but this can also just be used a summer-themed activities list. To ensure I had plenty of room to brainstorm and record ideas, the rectangle on the right got divided into two columns.
Weekly Spread
Each day of the week was given a slightly wonky rectangle for me to record the title, and each rectangle eventually got a drop shadow behind it to make it pop out. The really “cherry on top” moment for this layout was adding the blush pink to the drop shadow….this colour has probably been one of my most used colours in my bullet journal…..it’s the perfect shade of pink, I can’t get enough of it.
