4 Reasons You Need to Make a Photo Album
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a photo album is worth…. thousands more? 🤪 Poor blog post intro aside, there is some serious nostalgia that comes along with having photo albums in your home/room/dorm. They might not be as popular in 2022, but today I’m going to share the four reasons you NEED to get started on making one for yourself and your family!
1. Flipping > Scrolling
In a world where so many of us are accustomed to scrolling through the photo albums on our phone, there can be something so grounding about the experience of flipping through your albums IRL. I think like most things in life, experiences can be so much more impactful when you’re present in them — having special moments captured in physical albums allows you to have uninterrupted walks down memory lane! No distracting notifications or apps here!
2. Something to Chat About
Having a photo album on your coffee or entryway table, open with the invitation for guests to flip through, is an amazing conversation piece. Share behind-the-scenes tidbits of events and/or show off the people in your life you care most about! If nothing else, there always seems to be a funny story that comes about when you’re flipping through a photo album! It’s moments of connection like these that make the time you put into printing and setting up an album so worth it ☺️
3) Adding in Good Energy
When you walk into my apartment, you’ll notice photo frames on most surfaces containing images of some of my favourite people, my friends and my family — I consider photos to be one of the simplest, but most impactful, ways to transform your apartment/house into a warm home. When I move to a new place, adding photos to my space is one of the first things I do to feel more connected to my environment. If that ain’t good energy, I don’t know what is! 🙌 I’m constantly swapping out photos in my picture frames with ones in my albums so that I can spice up my frames, and give different images their time to shine!
4) They’re cool again 😎
I’ll be the first to admit that photo albums historically haven’t been the most exciting purchase to make — a lot of the ones I’ve come across in stores can feel very basic or super old school. But to my delighted surprise, there are new styles of photo albums emerging that can add so much personality to your space!
*The photo album I got last year was from a company called, Printworks (photographed above). I love it because it’s designed to look like, when closed, a beautiful coffee table book! How gorgeous is that?! It makes it super easy to use as décor on a surface, or naturally style a bookshelf. When it comes to photo albums it’s what’s on the inside that matters, but there’s no denying that having a photo album you’re excited to fill with images makes the task a lot less daunting.
